Mike Brevoort is the Principal Engineer and Lead Architect for Platform at Slack. He was the founder and CEO of Missions, a messaging-based workflow system that Slack acquired in 2018. Mike joined Slack as Director of Engineering and led the effort to reimagine the Missions feature set as a core capability of Slack. In 2019 the team launched Workflow Builder, a simple, no-code tool to automate routine processes in Slack. In 2020 the team launched Workflow steps from apps and in 2021 announced the new workflow-centric next generation of the Slack platform.
Mike has been building on Slack since 2014, including creating a bot-hosting platform called Beep Boop. He helped create multiple open-source projects including Slapp, which eventually evolved into BoltJS. Ask Mike anything, future, past or present about the Slack platform.
Mike lives with his family in Littleton, Colorado, where he is a reluctant runner and a procrastinating cyclist.
